2018-19 Lt. Governor Training Held at Lied Conference Center - 04/08/2018

This past weekend, Sue Waldren, Governor-elect of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District conducted her 2018-2019 Lt. Governor training at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska. It was a power packed Friday and Saturday including the NE-IA Trustees meeting, Lt. Governor training, fellowship, team-building, past Governors meeting and a whole lot of delicious food!

Many Kiwanis folks participated and talked about and trained on every aspect of Kiwanis and the duties of Lt. Governor. Thanks to those that contributed in some way to make this an outstanding weekend!!

Capital City Kids Provide Service to Children's Zoo - 04/02/2018

Capital City Kiwanis club arranged for a cleanup event at the Lincoln Children's Zoo on March 24th for the Service Leadership Programs that their club sponsors. This included the Pyrtle K-Kids, Lux Builders Club, and the Lincoln East High Key Club. There were approximately 60 people including kids, parents, siblings, and advisors …. but mostly kids. They all showed up to rake and clear out some of the leaves on the property. Following this fun and exciting event, everyone met in the parking lot at noon for pizza. Although the weather was cold and damp, it didn't dampen the spirit and fun had by all.

Downtown Des Moines Kiwanis Service Project - 03/28/2018

The Downtown Des Moines Kiwanis Club was busy packing Healthy Baby back packs (diaper bags) at their meeting today with District Service chair, Diana Sickles.  The backpacks included items for babies for which Healthy Baby showers will be held in April and May in both Spanish and English for expectant moms.

It is with great pride that Dobytown Kiwanis announce that our Back 2 School Link - School Backpack Project has been selected as the Signature Project for the N...E-IA Kiwanis District. This annual project will represent The NE-IA District at the Kiwanis International Convention June 28-July 1 in Las Vegas. We were informed March 22nd that Back 2 School Link has now been selected as a Finalist in the Kiwanis International Signature Project Contest one of 13 selected from 33 entries Worldwide. This is a great honor and the Club appreciates all the support from it's members, Kiwanians and community participation that makes this honor possible.

Community Blood Drive Saves Lives and Supports Community Food Program - 03/08/2018

The Milford, Nebraska Public Schools were the recipients of a $1,500 donation as a joint effort earned by Southeast Community College (SCC) and Milford Kiwanis who hosted Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) Hometown Heroes blood drives during the 2017 summer months.

The NCBB Hometown Heroes program takes place each year from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is an opportunity for communities outside of Lincoln and Omaha to help save lives and enrich their community. Money is allocated from NCBB to blood drive partners when they reach their blood drive collection goals.

Wattnem receives "The Gift of Kiwanis" Gold Level Award - 03/07/2018

Congratulations to Kiwanis Membership Director Gary Wattnem on receiving The Gift of Kiwanis Gold Level Award. This award is given to members who have sponsored at least 10 new members in the past five years. The River City Morning Kiwanis Club is now more than 70 members strong, thanks in part to a new satellite club that is growing in Clear Lake.

Ames Golden K recently reached a new milestone in club membership when well-known Ames community member Gerri Bugg was inducted as its 100th member.  Pictured left to right is Gerri, Golden K President Bob Sperry and Larry Trede, Golden K Secretary.

Ames Golden K Donates to Miracle League - 02/28/2018

Ames Golden K Kiwanis along with other Kiwanis Clubs in Story, Boone and Greene counties has pledged $50,000 towards the estimated cost of $1.5 million for construction of the All-inclusive Playground and Miracle League Park at Inis Grove Park in Ames.  Ames Golden K has pledged to raise $20,000  of the overall Kiwanis goal.  The fund-raising program began in November,2017. The Ames Foundation is the primary fund-raising organization.

First payment of $10,000 raised by Ames Golden K was presented January 18 to Keith Abraham, Director of Ames Parks and Recreation.  Funds are being raised in two ways–weekly donations from members using a “baseball...

K-Kids Soup Supper Supports Garuna Kids & Eliminate - 02/24/2018

Helping Hands Kiwanis assisted their K-Kids and Builders Club at St. John School at their Annual Soup Supper during K-Kids Week on February 21. The event was a fund raising activity for two purposes. The kids chose to earmark part of their proceeds for the Garuna Kids and also for the Eliminate Project.

The Garuna Kids child-scholarship ministry and the Garuna Schools ministry are vital tools in reaching the children of Southeast Asia with the grace, mercy and compassion (garuna) of Christ. Other funds raised will help the Helping Hands Kiwanis meet their Eliminate Model Club commitment of $21,000 to Eliminate Maternal & Neonatal Tetanus.
